as a person who's racially mixed lets just say when I first moved to CDA back in 1996 the KKK parades were a turn off, but from what I gathered most of the people in the area were rather contemptous to the parades, and today they're not even close to as palpable as when I first moved here. No parades, that I'm aware of, might as well not have ever even existed... I'm sure they're still skulking around somewhere though heh but lets just say it's nice that they're not as prevalent

The idea that CDA is full of racist whites is completely false, and I love that for once it's pointed out. Even though there were parades and such held that had to do with racism, there wasn't much support given to them.

Hi just read your blog on Hussar, very interesting. I actually live in this little town and if you would like any more information feel free to e-mail me. I am orginally from another small town about 20 miles away called Rosebud. You have probablyheard of this town, it is very well known for its dinner theatre and drama college, you would find this town interesting as well. Thanks Yvonne

I know this post is old, but I just stumbled upon your blog tonight and have been reading it for the last hour and a half! I have lived in Southern Alberta my whole life and one part of downtown Calgary that should be noted is the Glenbow Museum (www.glenbow.org) and their Mavericks Exhibit. And Art Central (www.artcentral.ca) which is for local artists of all shapes and sizes!

The place you wrote about with all the Snoopys', is named Santa Rosa, Ca. It is (or was before his passing) the home of Charles Shultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip.

The Safeway has recently moved to become bigger and better???? The old Safeway is now a Harvest Foods and does not have the paintings of our founding fathers any longer. One of those guys was my great grandfather Columbus Parker who settled north of town in 1895. He was a logger as was my father. Yes this is a quirky town and we love it! Thanks Brent

I would like to find a pic of the original water tower before it was converted to a restaurant. My dad helped to build it.
